I just returned from meeting with White House and congressional leaders on health care reform in DC yesterday, and I am elated to see that the White House is on the same page when it comes to promoting health care reform that is not just about insurance coverage but about health CARE. Twenty or so state legislators who specialize in health care in their states presented a letter from 700 legislators to both Congress and the President to urge them to push forward with reform which allows consumers to keep their insurance if they want to or choose a public health insurance option, contains costs, and assures quality, affordable care for all Americans.
Here are photos of me with the group of legislators who presented the letter to Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, and me being interviewed by a reporter on the White House lawn later in the afternoon.I am now a member of the White House Working Group of State Legislators for Health Care Reform. You'll be hearing from us in the next few months (nothing like having a President who is a community organizer, eh?)
